JAY - Ward Lumber and Fuller Excavating have joined forces to match donations for relief efforts in communities impacted by Tropical Storm Irene.

Ward Lumber has been challenging donors to make tax-deductible gifts for Irene relief by offering to match pledges up to $5,000. Fuller Excavating has also offered a $5,000 match, doubling the total matching gift. In addition, the two businesses have also challenged their employees to give and will double their donations as well, according to a press release.

The funds will be donated to the Jay Flood Relief Fund and the Keene Flood Recovery Fund.

For example, a $100 donation by customers and friends would be matched by both Ward Lumber and Fuller Excavating for a total of $300. An employee donation of $100 would be doubled by both Ward Lumber and Fuller Excavating at $200 more each, increasing that donation to $500. Donations of any size are appreciated.

The goal of the match challenge by Ward and Fuller is to raise an added $15,000 in combined donations and matching funds through the gifts of customers, friends, employees and vendors.

The Jay Flood Relief Fund and the Keene Flood Recovery Fund have been established through the Adirondack Community Trust to receive tax-deductible gifts to support the communities of AuSable Forks, Jay, Upper Jay, Keene and Keene Valley. A committee of local volunteers will evaluate applications for assistance and determine how grants will be allocated.

Donations can be made by mailing checks made out to the Jay Flood Relief Fund or the Keene Flood Recovery Fund to the Adirondack Community Trust, Ward/Fuller Challenge Match, P.O. Box 288, Lake Placid, NY 12946, or you can contribute online at or
