SARANAC LAKE - Outgoing Harrietstown Councilman Jim Murnane was thanked for his service to the town at his last town board meeting Thursday.
Murnane, who was elected to a four-year term in 2008, opted not to seek re-election this year. A Republican, Murnane is also the owner and general manager of the Best Western Mountain Lake Inn.
"I've learned a lot and enjoyed my time on the board, and I thank you," Murnane told fellow councilmen at the close of the meeting.
"I appreciate his professionalism on this board," said Supervisor Larry Miller. "He's been a big help, a great board member and we're going to miss him."
Miller also welcomed Nichole Meyette to the board. Meyette, who sat in the audience for Thursday's meeting, won the second of two town board seats that were up for election in November. Incumbent Republican Bob Bevilacqua was the top vote getter.
"We're looking forward to working with you, and (you) helping us with a different perspective on things," Miller told Meyette.
Meyette, a Democrat, will be sworn in to office in January.
