November 5, 2011
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

LAKE PLACID - The third annual 5K Turkey Trot, a 5-kilometer walk/run to benefit local food pantries and Adirondack Health's Fit for Life program, will kick off at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24 at the Speed Skating Oval in Lake Placid.

The route goes around Mirror Lake and ends back at the oval.

Participants can preregister by Nov. 19 for $25 or for $30 the day of the race. Race-day registration closes promptly at 8 a.m. Bring three non-perishable food items on the day of the race to receive a $5 reduction on the cost of registration.

Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third overall male and female finishers. There are additional prizes for anyone who can "stuff the turkey" or, in other words, beat the mystery turkey runner to the finish line. No prizes will be awarded for literally "stuffing" the mystery turkey runner.

For more information or to register, visit www.active.com or contact Fit for Life at 518-897-2271 or ffl@amcCares.org.
