SARANAC LAKE - Mark Price scored two goals to lead the Beekmantown boys soccer team to a 2-0 Northern Soccer League victory over Saranac Lake on Friday at Schroeter's Field.
Price scored his first goal on a penalty kick at the 16:36 mark of the first half, then extended the lead at the 39:16 mark of the second on an assist from Zach Towel to give the Eagles control of the game.
"Beekmantown was really controlled in the first half and we struggled to keep up," said Saranac Lake coach Bill Wilson said. "In the second half, we picked it up and started to play more aggressively. Have to give the guys credit for their hustle in the second half."
Senior goalkeeper Ricky Schmidt kept the Red Storm (0-1) in contention throughout the game, stopping 10 shots that came his way.
Beekmantown goalie Derek Olsen made three saves.

SARANAC LAKE - The Saranac Lake volleyball team's comeback attempt came up just short Friday as Saranac was able to take the fifth and deciding game of the match for a 3-2 victory.
Saranac took a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 win the first game and a 25-18 victory in the second, but the Red Storm battled back to take the next two games, 25-13 and 29-27.
The Chiefs secured the match with a 25-18 win in the fifth game.
Emily Fountain had 10 assists, three kills and 15 service points to lead the way for Saranac Lake in its first match of the season. Nickie Trudeau had seven kills and 11 points from the serving line and Abby Smith recorded eight kills to chip in for Saranac Lake.
Danielle Parker had 22 digs, two kills and four aces to lead the way for the Chiefs, while teammate Stephanie Linder got it done at the net with 18 kills on the night.
