AuSABLE FORKS - The town of Jay and the AuSable Forks Volunteer Fire Department are looking for volunteers to staff the kitchen at the town's emergency shelter.

The shelter kitchen, at the town of Jay Community Center, is serving hundreds of emergency service volunteers, the Army Corps of Engineers, the National Guard, and any flood victims that do not have access to or the ability to prepare their own food, according to a press release from the town. Breakfast is from 7 to 9 a.m., lunch is from noon to 2 p.m. and dinner is from 5 to 7 p.m.

Anyone who wants to volunteer cooking or serving in the kitchen should call 518-647-2204. Donations of food and disposable cutlery can be dropped off at the Community Center.

There is also a portable water tank at the Community Center. People can bring containers to fill.

Also, there is a food station at the Brookside Motel in Upper Jay for anyone affected by the flooding, where meals will be served at 6 p.m. daily, according to the Jay Community News.

(Editor's note: The phone number for the Jay Community Center has been corrected.)
