SARANAC LAKE - The Decker Community Learning Center at Adirondack Medical Center was honored recently for the prominent role it plays in tobacco-use cessation.

Registered nurses Linda Savarie and Aimee Savarie were presented with a certificate of appreciation from the North Country Healthy Heart Network for their contribution to tobacco cessation in the communities served by Adirondack Medical Center. The Decker Center receives education based on best practices, technical assistance and patient education resources from the North Country Tobacco Cessation Center, to support their treatment of tobacco-dependent patients and help them quit smoking successfully.

"Staff at AMC's Alfred M. Decker Community Learning Center help people stop smoking, whether they are patients in the hospital or are out-patients," said Linda, who serves as the coordinator for patient education at the Decker Center. "Thanks to the training and support provided by the Cessation Center, we are confident the assistance we provide is current and effective."
