TUPPER LAKE - A car hitting an electric pole late Saturday morning was responsible for the power going out for about one-third of the village's municipal electric customers.
A car driven by Joseph Mangan, 58, of Tupper Lake, struck the pole on McLaughlin Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, causing power to go out for about 500 electric customers.
Village Electric Superintendent John Bouck said his crews had to replace the pole and reconstruct the three circuits on it, and power was restored by about 3:30 or 4 p.m.
State police, village police, the Tupper Lake rescue squad, the Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department and village electric crews all responded to the scene.
State police didn't have any information on the cause of the crash or whether there were any injuries or charges.
