More parking for Christmas shoppers

December 4, 2010
Editorial by the Adirondack Daily Enterprise: Publisher Catherine Moore, Managing Editor Peter Crowley

In Friday's editorial we offered a special thank-you to Lake Flour Bakery owner Nancy Moriarty for opening her private parking lot on River Street to the public for Christmas shopping this year. Now we're pleased to announce that she's not alone.

Hotel Saranac owner Sewa Arora has agreed to do the same during the daytime hours at his lot on Main Street.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation has agreed to let Christmas shoppers park at the boat launch lot on River Street. Although this is public property, normally the DEC tickets all but boaters.

St. Bernard's Catholic Church is also offering free public parking for Christmas shopping in its lot, accessible from Church, St. Bernard and River streets. Bob Farmer will do the same at the former state Department of Health and Labor property, which he owns, on St. Bernard Street.

Please show your appreciation by treating the parking lots with the greatest respect, and join us in thanking these folks for their community spirit.
