LAKE PLACID - Snow began to fall Friday afternoon in Lake Placid and quickly turned into a heavy snowfall, resulting in a report of several cars off the road and a jack-knifed tractor trailer on state Route 73 just past the ski jumps.

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Squad and state police were on scene. The accident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. The road was temporarily closed as emergency personnel cleared the scene and was reopened about 3 p.m. There were no reports of injuries.
