SARANAC LAKE - As of Friday night, police were looking for a white male driving a medium- to dark-blue truck, which they said left the scene of a car crash.
Village police said they got a call at 4:10 p.m. Friday reporting the three-car crash in which 71-year-old Ralph Howard, of Saranac Lake, crossed Bloomingdale Avenue from Margaret Street in his 2010 Nissan sedan to go into the Grand Union parking lot when he was struck by a full-sized Ford pickup, driven by Walter Emmons, 21, of Saranac Lake, who was traveling eastbound. Howard's vehicle was pushed into the blue truck waiting in the Grand Union driveway, causing front-end damage to the truck, and the driver left the scene.
Howard was transported to Adirondack Medical Center by Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue. His condition was not known as of press time.
Emmon's truck had to be towed, and there was damage to the rear wheels of Howard's vehicle.
Police said preliminary investigation made it seem as though Howard didn't yield to the right of way, but Chief Bruce Nason said the investigation is ongoing and no tickets had yet been issued.
