Boil-water order in AuSable Acres (update)

July 14, 2010
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

JAY - The state Department of Health has issued a boil-water order for residents in part of AuSable Acres.

The boil water order applies to those who are on the Signor Well System, according to a statement from the Forever Wild Water Co.

A state Health Department notice issued Tuesday morning said the order is for all residents from Cross Street through AuSable Drive and the Ridgetop area.

The boil water order was issued due to a lack of water and/or water pressure because of a water break and failure of the Cascade Well pump, which was reportedly struck by lightning.

Residents affected should bring all water used for drinking and cooking to a rolling boil in a clean container, let it boil for a minute and let it cool before using.

Susan Kennedy, a senior engineer for the state Health Department, said this morning that the boil-water order was still in effect and would be in place for at least two more days, depending on the outcome of a series of tests.
