Red Storm fall in double OT
By the Enterprise staffSARANAC LAKE - Kiley Buckshot scored the game winning goal with 48 seconds left in the second overtime to give Massena an 11-10 girls lacrosse victory over Saranac Lake on Monday.
After a back-and-forth second half, the teams were knotted at 9-9 at the end of regulation. Massena scored first in overtime, but the Red Storm answered back in the second overtime period before Buckshot put the game away with time running out.
Shannon Muldowney led the way for Saranac Lake on the scoring front with a goal and three assists. Alex McFaddin chipped in three goals, while Kiley Sapone and Elena Beideck had two. Hillary Pond had a goal and an assist and Meadow Hackett contributed a goal.
Ashley Pittman held down the goalkeeping duties for the Red Storm with 12 saves.
Buckshot finished the game with four goals, while Erin Francis scored three goals and an assist to lead the way for Massena.
Renee Deruchia made 10 saves in goal for Massena.
Softball
Canton 24, Tupper Lake 0
TUPPER LAKE - Kacie Wentworth pitched a perfect game as Canton continued its dominance Monday with a 24-0 softball victory over Tupper Lake on Monday.
Wentworth, who has given up just six hits and no runs in five Canton wins this season, struck out 11 Lumberjack batters.
Tupper Lake fell to 0-3 with the loss.
Keene 21, Westport 7
KEENE - The Keene softball team improved to 2-2 with a 21-7 victory over Westport on Monday.
Michelle Sardella went 3-for-5 and Amanda Boyle had a double and a single to lead the way offensively for the Beavers. Emma Nye added a triple and single.
Boyle received the win in the circle.
Baseball
Peru 15, Lake Placid 1
PERU - The Lake Placid baseball team mustered just two hits on Monday in a 15-1 loss to Peru.
The Blue Bombers first hit of the game came in the fifth inning when John Morrison hit a double. Andrew Baird recorded Lake Placid's second hit in the seventh inning.
Peru pitcher Will Flynn went the distance, striking out 10 and walking just one.
Lake Placid scored its lone run in the first inning when Frank Bazzicalupo hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Chris Orsi, who had walked earlier in the inning.
Lake Placid fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss, while Peru improved to 2-2.

OGDENSBURG - The Tupper Lake boys track and field team split its meets against Ogdensburg and Salmon River, while the Lumberjack girls dropped two narrow losses during a dual meet in Ogdensburg on Monday.
Kyla Kenyon (100 hurdles, 400 and 200), Amanda Moeller (100), Becky Duckett (1,500) and Hannah Klossner (800) each won their individual events for the Tupper Lake girls.
Chuck Beaudette won three individual events on the boys side, while Nick Bourbeau excelled in the throwing events.
Tupper Lake returns to action Friday at Franklin Academy.
