TUPPER LAKE - The local band Sling Shot played a fundraiser concert Saturday night at the Old Northern Pub to raise money for James Person, a Tupper Laker who is battling cancer.

Band members donated all of the show's proceeds to help Person afford his treatments.

Person's sister, Tiffany, who lives in California but has been traveling home to spend time with her brother since he has been sick, got on stage at the end of the concert and thanked everyone who came to the show. She said her brother is humbled by all the support he has received from the community.

The show was just one of several fundraisers held to help Person in the past weeks. Local volunteers held a bake sale to raise funds for Person, and the Tupper Lake United Teachers threw a spaghetti dinner for him and another local man dealing with cancer, Robbie Frenette.
