Seasonal, H1N1 clinic Wednesday
SARANAC?LAKE - A free flu clinic will be taking place from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrietstown Town Hall in Saranac Lake.
Both seasonal and H1N1 vaccine will be available. Anyone age six months old or older should be vaccinated to protect against the flu. All ages are welcome.
People who are at high risk for the flu are encouraged to get vaccinated.
High risk adults include people 65 or older and adults with chronic disease, such as diabetes, cancer, emphysema, cardiac and immune compromised.
Children under 5 years of age should be vaccinated.
Women who will be pregnant during flu season and want a flu shot must have a prescription.
Franklin County Public Health reminds the public that everyone can help contain the spread of influenza by using good respiratory hygiene, covering their mouths when they sneeze or cough, staying at home if they have a fever or respiratory illness and, most importantly, washing their hands often.
If you get the flu, get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and take over-the-counter medications that can help reduce fever. If the illness gets worse contact your health care provider for advice.
