PLATTSBURGH - A snowmobiler who died on Upper Chauteaugay Lake Friday night was killed when he fell from his snowmobile and was struck by another one.
Everett J. Willis, 41, of Brainardsville, was operating his 2006 Polaris snowmobile on the lake in the town of Dannemora when he fell from his snowmobile and was struck by a 2001 Arctic Cat snowmobile being operated by Todd M. Harrigan, also 41, of Chateaugay, according to a press release from state police in Plattsburgh.
Harrigan refused to provide a blood sample; police obtained a search warrant for one, and results of the analysis are pending. Harrigan has not been charged.
Meanwhile, Roger J. Wilcox, 43, of Brainardsville, was charged with operating a snowmobile while intoxicated as a result of the investigation but was not involved in the accident.
Dr. Eric Gorman performed an autopsy on Willis Monday at the Champlain Valley Physicians' Hospital Medical Center Morgue, and determined the cause of death to be blunt-force trauma. Clinton County Coroner David F. Donah has not ruled on the manner of death, pending further investigation by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Troop B Collision Reconstruction Unit.
No further information was immediately available Monday afternoon.
State police and the Clinton County District Attorney's Office are investigating, and anyone with any additional information is asked to call state police at 563-3761.
