Grant to help improve Lake Placid library art gallery
LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Public Library has been awarded a grant of $4,000 from the Adirondack Community Trust's Frances Douglass Silleck Fund.
The grant will be used for repairs and artwork hanging- system upgrades in the library's Guy Brewster Hughes Art Gallery, a public space devoted to the works of Adirondack artists.
The library offers experienced and beginning artists alike free gallery space to show their work. The collection is varied, exciting and ever-changing. The Artists' League of Lake Placid meets at the library weekly and many of its members show their work in the Hughes Gallery.
The board of trustees of the Lake Placid Public Library gratefully acknowledges the gift from the Frances Douglass Silleck Fund at the Adirondack Community Trust.
The Lake Placid Public Library was established in 1884. Today it is chartered to serve the area encompassed by the Lake Placid Central School District, although membership is not limited to it.
The Lake Placid Public Library seeks to provide educational, informational and recreational material for the enjoyment of our community. The principal source of income for the library comes from the Lake Placid Central School District tax base.
The Adirondack Community Trust is a community foundation working to build permanent and pass-through funds to help meet current and future charitable needs of the Adirondack region.
