LAKE?PLACID?- The Adirondack Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Daniel Gordon, will perform two North Country winter concerts.
The first will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium in Hawkins Hall at SUNY?Plattsburgh and on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.
The program includes Lasse Eerola's Suite for Wind Orchestra, Gordon Jacob's Old Wine in New Bottles and Percy Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy. There will also be a tribute to the armed forces, in the form of John Williams' Hymn to the Fallen, conducted by Lori Salimando-Porter, a retired member of the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point. Featured soloist on the program is JoLee Yeddo, who will perform Arban's well-known Carnival of Venice on tuba.
The Adirondack Wind Ensemble is a professional musical ensemble of wind and percussion instruments. Its performers consist primarily of music educators from the Plattsburgh area. The group is dedicated to bringing the highest quality wind and percussion music to the Adirondack region.
Tickets are $10 general admission. All students are free.
