A new year in Lake Clear

January 22, 2010
BY DEBORAH J. DONALDSON

The Adirondack Presbyterian Church will hold its worship services for the month of January at the Lake Clear church. Worship service starts at 10:45 a.m. with coffee hour to follow. All are welcome to attend and bring a friend.

After the worship service on Sunday, Jan. 17 will be the annual meeting. All church members are encouraged to attend.

St. John in the Wilderness church will hold its Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Gabriels Assumption will hold its Mass on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. with Sunday Mass at 9:30 a.m. St. Pauls in Bloomingdale will hold an Anticipated Mass at 4 p.m. on Saturday. All are welcome to attend and bring a friend.

There will be a card party at St. John in the Wilderness church hall at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17. Prizes, lottery tree and lots of fun playing cards. Bring a friend or two. Proceeds from the card parties are going towards new tables.

The bookmobile was at the Lake Clear post office parking lot January 5 and should be back in the same place around the first week in February on a Tuesday. See you then.

Charlie's Inn at the Junction in Lake Clear has extended their days open. Charlie's Inn will be open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to close. Sunday they open at noon until close. Monday, Charlie's Inn will be closed. Now that we have snow, remember that the weekend of Saturday, Feb. 6 will be the Poker Run for snowmobilers. Hope to have more about that in the next column.

Clarence Brockway would like everyone to know how great Life Flight really is. Sylvia needed to be flown to Fletcher Allen Hospital very quickly a week ago. Brock said the weather was terrible, but Life Flight got Sylvia there in a hurry. She has undergone tests and expects to be home this week. Again, the Brockway family sends a big thank-you to Life Flight for their wonderful service to everyone.

I am sure some of the Lake Clear residents have noticed that Cecilia Delarm, our post master, has been missing for the past couple of weeks. She had surgery and is doing very well. Cecilia said she will be back to work as soon as she can. The post office duties have been handled very well by: Marianne Acquavella, Cecilia Martin, John Paye. Thank you to the three of you.

Congratulations to Robyn Dykeman, former Lake Clear resident, and Matthew Fletcher, of Saranac Lake, on their recent engagement. I am told there will be a spring or summer wedding in 2011.
