This car, driven by Derek M. Wood, 19, of Watkins Glen, went off Jones Pond Road in Gabriels early Sunday morning. Ray Brook-based state police said Wood lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree on the road’s south shoulder. It was a snowy morning; Wood did not have to be hospitalized, police said. He was arrested at 1:25 a.m., charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and several traffic infractions, ticketed and released to appear in Brighton town court at a later date.
