SARANAC LAKE - Village police arrested an 18-year-old male Wednesday for involvement in thefts of at least two iPods and some other electronic devices from cars and lockers at Saranac Lake High School in May.
The defendant, a village resident whose name is being withheld as he may be eligible for youthful offender status, was arrested at 5 p.m. and charged with two counts of petit larceny, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property and sixth-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned in village court and released under the supervision of probation.
The defendant is alleged to have conspired with a 17-year-old male, also from Saranac Lake, who was arrested on May 7 and charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, said village police Chief Bruce Nason. Nason said the first theft was reported May 1.
"The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be pending," Nason said. "We are looking to recover any and all property that was stolen during that time frame."
