Fall 2009 Junior National Luge Teams announced
LAKE PLACID - Junior World Cup winners Robby Huerbin, Emily Sweeney, and 2008 Junior World Champion Kate Hansen will lead the fall 2009 Junior National Team when they hit the ice in October. The junior racing season is scheduled to begin in Paramonovo, Russia with the first two World Cup events and conclude in Winterberg, Germany. The Junior World Championships will take place in Igls, Austria on January 30 and 31.
Huerbin (Pittsburgh, Pa.), a 2008 Junior World Championship bronze medal winner, will split his time between the Senior and Junior teams for the second year in a row. Taylor Morris (South Jordan, Utah) and Isaac Underwood (Skandia, Mich.) will round out the junior men's singles team. Sweeney (Suffield, Conn.), who finished fourth in last season's overall Youth A (to age 17) World Cup and Hansen (La Canada, Calif.), who missed a significant portion of last season due to a back injury, will return to head up the women's team.
Junior National C Team members Aaron Barge (Saranac Lake), Jacob Hyrns (Muskegon, Mich.), Andrew Sherk (Ft. Washington, Pa.), Tyler Anderson (Alpine, Utah), Summer Britcher (Glen Rock, Pa.) and Lea Vanderlinden (Park City, Utah) have been invited to train with the team during their summer camps.
