» Editorial: Bank robber will come to justiceTUPPER LAKE - The person who robbed the Community Bank on Hosley Avenue Friday still hadn't been caught as of this morning.
"We're continuing the investigation," said Capt. Robert LaFountain of the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Ray Brook. "The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified and responded. We are pursuing leads in conjunction with the FBI. We're also doing additional searches throughout the area."
Police would not disclose how much money the robber took.
The state police are directing the investigation, and village police Chief Tom Fee said his department is helping and will turn over any leads received to state police.
Police went door to door after the robbery, questioning neighbors, and have received a large number of leads from local residents.
LaFountain also asked that anyone who finds "anything suspicious that may be discarded" in the Tupper Lake area, such as items of clothing or anything that may belong to the bank, to contact state police.
The suspect walked into the bank with a silver handgun shortly after noon, demanded money and told everyone to get on the floor, according to eyewitnesses, who said he then fled on foot in the direction of Saranac Lake. State and village police both "responded immediately upon receiving the call," LaFountain said.
Police described the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet and 2 inches tall and 150 pounds, wearing a hooded Carhartt-style jacket, sunglasses, blue jeans and gray sneakers. He was wearing what appeared to be a fake mustache and goatee.
Checkpoints were set up on the roads leaving Tupper Lake for several hours Friday afternoon. Saranac Lake village police and state Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers helped state and Tupper Lake police search the area around the bank for clues and question possible witnesses. Helicopters and a tracking dog were used in the search.

storm, nate is correct "had not been caught as of this morning" is the past participle, not the present participle, form. because he wrote "as of this morning" it is the past tense. but all in all because as of right now, he hasn't been caught, i understand your thinking
