WOONSOCKET, R.I. - Filmmakers David Bettencourt and G. Wayne Miller presented their documentary "On the Lake: Life and Love in a Distant Place," about the tuberculosis epidemic in 1900s America and globally today, to a crowd of almost 600 people Feb. 13 at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket, R.I.
The documentary will be broadcast first on Rhode Island PBS, WSBE-channel 36 on March 25. PBS broadcasts in other markets across America will follow. The deluxe DVD will be released on March 31.
"On the Lake" has been accepted as a member of the Geneva, Switzerland-based worldwide Stop TB Partnership, whose board is run by members of the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
