SARANAC LAKE - The state Association of Health Care Providers Inc. (HCP) recently presented North Country Home Services with HCP Excellence in Public Relations Award.
"This award recognizes the achievements of an HCP member who has raised the awareness of the home-care industry, drawn attention to a significant home-care issue, or generated a high level of media coverage for home care agencies through public relations efforts that generate an exceptional level of media coverage," Rebecca Leahy, executive director of North Country Home Services, said. "We at North Country Home Services are honored to have been chosen this year and are pleased that our not- for-profit rural home care agency was recognized for its efforts on the behalf of home care agencies across the state."
North Country Home Services staff were presented the award at the state Home Care Providers annual Healthcare conference held in Montreal on Oct. 26 to 29.
North Country Home Services home-care awareness campaign was highlighted this year when registered nurse Kathy Liddell was interviewed by The Associated Press regarding the effects of high gas prices on home care.
That interview caught the eye of Seth Doane, a CBS News correspondent, who contacted North Country Home Services about doing a segment for the series, "The Other America."
The segment, which aired on July 30 on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, spotlighted one of North Country Home Services home health aides as she traveled rural Essex County, providing much-needed home healthcare services.
North Country Home Services has been providing home health care services in upstate rural New York for 25 years and has offices located in Saranac Lake, Malone, Tupper Lake, Plattsburgh and Ticonderoga.
