Juried Craftfest All Adirondack Festival

The Adirondack Presbyterian Church will hold worship services for the month of July at 9 a.m. at the St. Regis Church and at 10:45 a.m. at the Lake Clear Church. A coffee hour will follow each service. All are welcome to attend.

The Adirondack Presbyterian Women are helping to support Paul and Darlene Heller of Plattsburgh as they are depart for Malawi to start managing an orphanage. Many of the children in Malawi have been orphaned due to AIDS. They are returned to their village and families after the age of two. Following is a partial list of what is needed: diaper rash cream, plastic pants or diaper wraps, hand sanitizer in pump bottle, baby Tylenol, baby blankets, blanket sleepers, fleece outfits, sweatshirt tops and bottoms. All clothing should be washed with price tags taken off. The babies are sent home with clothing, especially blankets and sleepers, as the temperature outside gets cold there. Anyone wishing to donate items or for other suggestions, please call Bonnie Rosenbarker at 891-3237. Items need to be to her by the end of July. Thank you in advance for your help.


St. John in the Wilderness Church will hold Mass at the Fish Creek campground at 8 a.m. for the month of July. In case of rain, Mass will be at St. John in the Wilderness at 8:15 a.m. Thursday Mass is at 8:30 a.m. Gabriels Assumption Mass will be Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. At St. Pauls in Bloomingdale, the anticipated Mass is Saturday at 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend any of the above services.

The annual summer raffle sponsored by St. John in the Wilderness has as their prizes this year: First kayak; second water toy package; third $100. Tickets are one for $1 or six for $5. Any parish member will have tickets, or call the parish house at 891-2286. Thank you for your support.

There will be a card party at St. John in the Wilderness Church hall at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 20. Prizes and refreshments. Come and join in the fun.

The Lake Clear Lake Association will hold their annual meeting at Charlie's Inn at the Junction on Monday, July 21. There will be a cookout starting at 5 p.m. with the meeting following. This is open to all members and residents of Lake Clear. For more information, please call James Carpenter at 891-7482.

The 19th annual Northern New York Juried Craftfest All Adirondack Festival will be held at Hohmeyer's Lodge on Lake Clear from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 12 and July 13. Featured will be: Adirondack History and Heritage, Adirondack sustainable products, wellness/health food demonstrations, outdoor recreation exhibitors, Adirondack Alps food and drinks and Belgium draft horse carriage rides. Admission is $2.50 per adult, with children under 12 free. Free parking off the road.

The bookmobile will be at the Lake Clear post office parking lot from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 22. Stop and pick up some good reading material.

Congratulations to the following Lake Clear graduates from Saranac Lake High School: Thomas Barnes, Travis Dawson, Kierrina Hough, Jon Law, Casey McHugh and Nathan Reyor. I would like to send congratulations to Lee Freeburg, Abigail Fuller and Emmalee Kelting. Congratulations to all the graduates.

Around town

A Yard sale sponsored by the United Methodist Women will be held at the Methodist Church in Saranac Lake from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9. Any household items will be accepted in good working order and good condition. NO CLOTHING AT THIS TIME. Leave items at the church any morning. Congratulations to Ryan Dailey formerly of Saranac Lake, who is the coach for the Campbell University golf team, which this past spring won the national championship and the prestigious Jones cup. The team beat the defending champion New Mexico State golf team. Ryan is the assistant director of the Professional Golf Management program at Campbell University in North Carolina. He is a faculty member at the Lundy Fetterman School of Business. His parents, Ross and Karen Dailey, reside in Saranac Lake.

There will be a card party at the Bloomingdale Town Hall at 7 p.m. every Thursday in July. Prizes and refreshments. Come and enjoy playing cards with your neighbors and friends.

Senior Happenings

The Gamblers Express will be leaving the Adult Center at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 12. Call 891-2980 to make reservations for this fun trip.

The Adult Center will sponsor a trip to the Visitor Interpretive Center and the St. Regis Cafe on Friday, July 11. The bus will leave at 3 p.m. Cost is $7 plus your meal. The VIC is free. Call 891-2980 to make reservations.

The Senior Picnic will be Wednesday, July 16 at Seller's Field in Burke. Registration at 10 a.m., picnic-style lunch at noon. Cost: donation of $2 if over 60 years, $6 if under 60 years. There will be raffles, drawings, 50/50 raffles and a chinese auction. The Franklin County Cowboys will entertain. Make sure you wear a crazy hat for the contest. Call 891-2980 to make reservations. The Adult Center will be closed that day only.

There will be a Jewelry sale held at the Adult Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 25. Along with the jewelry there will be pocketbooks and scarves. A light lunch will be available. If you wish to donate any items, please bring them to the Adult Center by July 23. Thank you for your help.

Enjoy a beautiful trip to Trois Rivieres and Quebec City by bus on September 17 and 18. Visit Notre-du-Cap Shrine, Le Maison de la Madone, Rosary Gardens and tour Quebec City with a tour guide. Open to anyone who is interested. Contact Dolores Commo at 891-3484 before July 15. Cost is $240 per person, double.
