Grateful to at least have a daytime ER

Executive pay should be next place for Adirondack Health to cut

May 10, 2014

A 15-hour-a-day emergency room is as good as Lake Placid can realistically expect these days....

Sorry — I just corrected the national debt figure to $17.5 trillion.

Executive and Administrative pay and benefits needs to be cut Globally, Nationally, Regionally, and LOCALLY for ALOT more than the Hospital!!!!!

According to Guidestar and the latest 990 posted by AMC in 2011,the Healthtech contract was paid in excess of $800,000. Ralph herself said at a community meeting last year that $300,000 was paid for management; that means her salary is in excess of $500,000 in 2011 (wonder what it was this past year). Add benefits to that and it's a pretty hefty salary for a small community hospital, especially for a leader who publicly stated that $9 million was lost on nursing homes bought and managed under her leadership. The ER doctor said in this newspaper a week ago that the Lake Placid ER doesn't have modern medical technology. Shame on the hospital board, management and medical staff for letting that happen. Lake Placid and those in surrounding communities need to lean on them to ensure that this parttime ER is the best it can be; we deserve it after all the investment Lake Placid made to Adirondack Medical Center to ensure excellent health care close to home

The mistake on the total national debt reported causes me to wonder about the accuracy of other statistics noted within the article.

Pretty sure the national debt is 17.5 Trillion, not billion....Not sure how you made that error.

Anyone who knows the history of HOW Saranac Lake Hospital financed their expansions, etc, would not think that what they have done to Lake Placid is anything we should be grateful for. The Lake Placid endowment, and the promises made are all gone now. If they actually owned the building where the emergency room is, there is no doubt they would have converted it to something useless.

re:"And Adirondack Health officials listened, and changed their plans accordingly.... they changed state policy just for this village of 2,500 people and its many visitors."

Cut the crap, Crowley - care to "document" this? That "pilot program" announced by Betty Little had come out of "Left Field" -- Who from ADK Health "changed the game?" The "high priced staffers" whom you assail?
