The scaffold law is a boon to ambulance chasers. It does not protect insurance companies either, it is a burden on them. It drives up the cost of construction all over New York because of higher rates charged to contractors. Whether this ever sees the light of day in the New York assembly remains to be seen. The trial lawyers association will be all over Sheldon Silver to keep this from being voted on.

Let's face the facts....All laws/regulations are written for attorneys and to protect insurance companies, and will be the demise of small business. In my humble opinion, regulations create monopolies because the little guy can't afford them. Just look around. Once thriving Main Streets that were packed mostly with mom and pops now house mostly insurance companies and attorneys. Sad.
