i am in mt mid 70's and had to lrave saranac lake in the 50's to find work i'm retired now and am back.there were NO jobs in the 50's and the prisons helped but now that's uncertain.clyde's work in office should be why he needs to be re-elected.he really has ideas for the future and we might not get another chance.his business dealings should not even be considered.a woman in black brook told me a couple years ago that she could not STAND clyde.i told he he was elected our mayor and should we be concerned, she answered OH NO HE WILL DO WONDERFUL THINGS FOR YOUR VILLAGE,i just personally can't stand him....so it sounds like even his enemies think he makes a good mayor...he has interviened for me a couple times and i gt immediate results. further more i have never voted a straight in my life.....he thinks the hotels are great and so do i.those who don't are usually not from here and don't know how (or care) hard it was for us then

Yikes. It's hard to believe this opinion article turned into a forum on the mayoral delectation, but since it is what it is, let me say that we in Saranac Lake are much better off now than four years ago. W're not all the way there yet, but at least we've turned the corner. Rabideau gave us a dose of "what is possible," along with hard things like those two biotech companies and the two hotel projects. I like the new sidewalks and I like the fact he sticks up for us in Albany and DC. I don't think his opponent, who seems like an OK lady, would have done the same or could do more in the next 4 years. I'm voting with the mayor and I can see good things ahead.

No Rhonda we're not tired of Clyde's supposed ego, in fact I could care less about it. What I want to see and I think most of us want to see is a thriving, prosperous Saranac Lake, so why should I care about his ego if this is what he can bring to our community.

He has been working hard to bring about more jobs, stores, hotels, businesses to SL, but if that is not what you think we need for our community then I suppose you may be right.

Good luck with your campaign for Ms. Trummer, but you might fare better if you actually had a cognizant argument for your diatribe.

"Jerk" is pretty harsh, Wondering. No wonder it's so hard to find candidates. Anonymous people can call names and hurl insults with no accountability. Few people are perfect, but the mayor did bring in the biotechs, held the line on spending, fixed sidewalks and started the 6er program. These are verifiable with a quick search and I know there are more. It's a clear choice and I don't have to insult the other candidate to make that point.

Duke, you're right, caught me in a weak moment. It's my honest opinion based on my direct experience with the man but it was bad taste on my part.

It's supposed to be government by and for the people, not by and for Clyde Rabideau.
