Why would a newspaper not be in favor of activist code enforcement? If this paper had been more active about what has been going on in this town for the several decades that the building code has been in effect, perhaps more attention and pressure would have been brought to bear on the spineless town officials who worry more about losing votes that the safety of their constituents. Code enforcement in Saranac Lake has been a joke for 20 years. ADE has done little to expose the culprits, both landlords and politicians.
