September 20, 2013

Among the most heart-wrenching stories in the news last week was that of a 12-year-old Florida girl who committed suicide after being bullied for nearly a year....

we all encounter bullying at some level. being this is 'suicide prevention month', please contribute what you can. There's a walk planned at the Olympic Oval in October and people can drop their .05 returnable cans to Nickles in SL and request those returns go to the cause.

I take particular issue with anyone whom thinks the 2008-2009 issue of bullying at the Petrova School was dealt with appropriately! The signs of bullying had been reported, multiple times. The 'Dean of Students' ignored most complaints and researched few. Granted, this particular family wasn't desirable to the district, but they still deserved better from the school administration. So......the bullies won.

Social networking creates a huge opportunity for bullying. Parents and students NEED to communicate uncomfortable network feelings. We MUST REMAIN HUMAN in some aspect of our parental obligations!!!

i thought the bullies had changed there ways. guess it might be they have not. discrimination is ileagal, you can get arrested, sued, and be made to change. as for this family being undesirable in the comunity,i wish you could see how idiotic that statement looks? guess we'r blessed to have such a wonderful, flawless bunch here in s.l.

acwolff, if you re-read what the context of the statement is, it is a belief of how the district felt, not my own. And it wasn't the Community, rather the district that had disregard. So re-examine the idiotic posting.

I was bullied grade school, nothing was done about it. So one day after lunch, I was being badgered by their ringleader. I grabbed him, threw him against the locker and punched his lights out. Broke hi nose, knocked out 2 teeth. He and his cohorts NEVER bothered me again. His parents and the school cried bloody murder. My folks challenged them to do anything about it. Nothing happened, as nothing should have. Schoolyard justice.
