KEENE VALLEY — The Keene Central School softball team is looking to continue the momentum it had in its 2007 Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference season.
After losing only one player to graduation, seven-year head coach Darrin Seeley says the team is small in numbers, but is packed with skill and experience.
“We had a successful season last year,” said Seeley. “We lost to Bolton in the Sectional semifinals, in a game that came down to the final minutes. After that, the girls were hungry and eager to get back.”
The Beavers have a strong core of upperclassmen leading the 2008 roster, with three seniors and four juniors anchoring the team.
Starting on the mound for Keene will be 12th grader Carrie Schacket, who has been with the team for four years.
“I brought Carrie Schacket in as a freshman,” Seeley said. “She’s my franchise player.”
Rounding out the seniors are Brooke Hartson and Amy Ignatuk.

KEENE — The future is looking brighter for the Keene Central baseball team, according to head coach Chris Marwica. “This is a year where hopes are high. I think the team has had four or five wins in like the past five years,” Marwica said.
