| | Where have all the honest people gone?May 9, 2009 - John StackHow hard is it to find someone who tells the truth? This week, Manny Ramirez was slammed with a 50 game suspension for alleged steroid use. He had been found to have artificial testosterone in his system. He also was found to have the drug Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. Manny claimed ‘"Recently, I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me.”. hCG is a female sterility drug, with seeming NO reason for a male to take, unless they were coming down from a cycle of steroids. No one believes Manny, and no one is saying he’s innocent until proven guilty, but no one seems to be talking about how Manny really seems to think people will believe this whopper. I have 2 things to say about this 1: Goodbye Cooperstown and 2: I just wish he was still with the Sox. My favorite beauty queen, Miss How about good old Senator Larry ‘wide stance’ Craig? He was arrested by a cop in an airport restroom for supposedly eliciting gay sex from an undercover officer. He pleaded guilty ver quietly ‘in the hopes that this would go away’. Months later, when his arrest came out , he claimed he wasn’t gay, and was actually innocent. He went on to appeal his guilty plea, even though his plea stated "I understand that the court will not accept a plea of guilty from anyone who claims to be innocent," and "I now make no claim that I am innocent of the charge to which I am entering a plea of guilty."In 32 years as a senator, he somehow didn’t understand what a guilty plea meant. Not to mention my democratic comrades from A final irony of monetary malfeasance. President Obama, in the midst of the worst economic crisis in decades, won’t be able to fill out one of the most important staffs needed, that of the Treasury Department. It seems like all of his appointees have some type of tax problem. Even those without problems are being delayed because of the fear of a controversy popping up later! It just makes you wonder who in the public eye is clean. Have our standards actually become too high, expecting people to be perfect? Are we missing out on supremely talented and qualified people because of (possibly) minor transgressions, and accepting lesser qualified individuals in much needed positions? ...Late breaking news. Louis Caldera resigned from his position at the White House. His office was the one that approved the Air Force One flyover. Although he was told to tell higher ups of the plans ( he doesn't remember) plus an email to tell higher ups. Caldera claimed he never read the email until after the flight. Then, he channeled his best Manny saying 'he was suffering from severe muscle pain and had been prescribed pain medication'. Even if we assume he was telling the truth, shouldn't he be reading email from important people in the White House daily? And should he be taking powerful pain medication on the job that seriously compromises his job performance int he upper echelons of US power? Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
