Cantor to stump for Doheny

September 24, 2012 - Chris Morris
Another high-profile Republican lawmaker will campaign for Watertown businessman Matt Doheny next month.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Virginia, will be in Watertown on Columbus Day to stump for Doheny, who will face U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, in the Nov. 6 election.

"Matt Doheny is a great example of how hard work can lead to great success," Cantor said in a press release issued by the Doheny campaign. "His business experience and commitment to pro-growth ideas and job creation is exactly what we need in Congress. I'm proud to campaign for one of our one strongest prospects."

Here's the rest of that press release:

Cantor previously chaired the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare and the Republic Economic Solutions Group, in addition to his role as minority whip. He is also co-author of the New York Times best-seller, “Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders.” That book was the foundation of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Young Guns program, which inducted Doheny as one of first its 12 members this year. “Eric Cantor is a true leader. He’s worked hard to build consensus around solutions that will get Americans back to work and grow our economy,” said Doheny. “I’m excited that he’s taken an interest in my race and our district and I look forward to showing him some of the great things the north country has to offer.” Details of Cantor’s visit have not been finalized, but the trip is expected to include a business tour and a fundraising event.
