| | Protect reply, ex parte, and more missing signsJuly 19, 2012 - Jessica CollierLot going on in the world of the ACR this week, folks. Here's all the info Protect released this week. Included is their response to the state's reply to their lawsuit. This is my first story on it, dealing with the allegations of ex parte communications. I plan to do another one outlining all their arguments once I get through all the paperwork. There seems to be a wide gap between what Protect thinks is OK in terms of ex parte and what the APA thinks is OK. I'm not familiar with the caselaw on that, so it will be interesting to hear that play out in court. The Albany Times Union also ran a story on the ex parte communications. It's always interesting to see what they decide to pick up. This is Phil Brown's blog post about the new paperwork. On another note, I've been getting a lot of emails about those missing signs. The people who are putting them up say that they have found several of them missing, and one was picked up from the side of the road, written on, then returned to its owner with the words "Shame on CRAP, Shame on no pay Tom, no justice for stupidity" written on the back. Stu Nichols told me, "Whoever this perp is doesn't respect free speech, is a petty thief, and a trespasser." In the interest of full disclosure, my dad is one of the founding members of CRAP, and Stu and Tom are his good friends. My dad told me today that he bought some of the signs and put them up on his mailbox on Lake Simond Road (where a good amount of ACR resistance is based), and they were torn down and thrown on the side of the road. He's going to put them back up again. There are a few other things I wanted to deal with today, but I have to get to an appointment, so hopefully I'll have some time to do it when I get back.
