New Taxes

July 2, 2012 - Rick Burdt
I offer congratulations to the Democrats for last weeks’ victory. You have succeeded in introducing over 20 new taxes to the American people, I hope you’re all proud. For all the elected officials who voted in favor of all these new taxes, good luck this fall on your re-election runs.

I have an idea for the left of this country; if you believe the answer to all our prayers is to raise taxes, then maybe you should start a grass roots campaign to voluntarily pay more in taxes. There is no law preventing anyone from paying more than what they are required, so why not show us Conservatives how it’s done and lead by example. Let me know how that works out.

President Obama keeps talking about taxing the rich but it’s interesting that he seems to be targeting big business executives and seems to be missing a large pool of rich folks. You never hear him demonizing celebrities. I’ll bet the average CEO who makes a multimillion dollar salary has hundreds, if not thousands of people working for him. This person didn’t get their position based on a pretty face or swimsuit body, but worked hard, stayed late and made sacrifices. A multimillion dollar celebrity probably has a workforce you can count on one hand.

I do understand why the President won’t bash the rich celebrities. Like the old saying goes; don’t bite the hand that feeds you. It’s interesting how he fits in so well with Hollywood celebrities, people who have made it their career to pretend to be someone they are not. Anyone who, three years after winning the Nobel Peace prize, can boast about personally approving drone kill lists has got to have acting skills. But, are they worthy of an encore?
