| | Early reaction to SCOTUS rulingJune 28, 2012 - Chris MorrisHere's a quick sampling of what people are saying about the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate. Keep checking back throughout the day, as there's sure to be plenty more reaction from people on both sides of this debate. And please feel free to share your thoughts about the ruling, too. Heather Briccetti, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State: "Today's Supreme Court decision will have little immediate impact on the health insurance issues affecting New York State employers. The cost of health care remains the top cost-of-doing-business issue for Business Council members. Employers struggle with high group coverage costs, high state imposed taxes and surcharges and an ever–expanding list of coverage mandates. Nothing in today's ruling helps 'bend the cost curve' or addresses the issues driving health care costs and utilization in New York State, which make the State one of the most expensive health insurance markets in the nation and a tremendous burden on large and small employers." Natalie Foster, co-founder and CEO of Rebuild the Dream: "This is tremendous news for the countless American families struggling to pursue their American Dream, for whom health care is a fundamental piece of the puzzle to survive. While we still believe that the Affordable Care Act is only one step in the right direction and will continue to call for Medicare for All, today's decision is a victory for millions of Americans and a stunning defeat for right-wing ideologues who want to drag our nation backwards," said Natalie Foster, Co-founder and CEO of Rebuild the Dream."
