| | Skelos: NY could lose two congressional districtsFebruary 8, 2012 - Chris MorrisNew York could lose two congressional districts because of population loss, according to state Senate leader Dean Skelos. Skelos told the Buffalo News today that western New York and New York City could both lose a district, although no decisions have been made. Here's more from the Associated Press: New York state's slow population growth compared to other states will mean two fewer congressional seats, which will go to faster growing and bigger states. State officials expect one seat now held by a Republican upstate and another held by a downstate Democrat will be cut. The state Legislature's redistricting plan for congressional seats is expected to be released within weeks. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
