| | Greene to announce candidacyJanuary 31, 2012 - Chris MorrisKellie Greene will announce her candidacy for New York's 23rd Congressional District seat during an event in Watertown. Greene, a native of Oswego who now lives in Sackets Harbor, labels herself as the only "principled conservative" in the race. She will challenge Watertown businessman and former Wall Street financier Matt Doheny for the Republican nomination. Greene will make her formal announcement at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramada Inn in Watertown. Supporters of her campaign will be on hand, as well as members of the press. I will be interviewing Greene for a candidate profile that will run in the Enterprise later this week. The field is starting to get a bit more crowded; today, the Enterprise ran my profile on Donald Hassig, who plans to give it a go as a Green Party candidate. I also hope to have something soon on Timothy Stampfler, a Plattsburgh man also interested in running as a Republican. They're all lining up to challenge incumbent Democrat Bill Owens. Stay tuned. Article Comments(1)AdkBuddyFeb-02-12 10:31 AM Greene should save her time and money. There is no such thing as a principled conservative. That is a buzz word for intolerance.
