Fun with redistricting

January 26, 2012 - Chris Morris
The New York State Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment (LATFOR) released its proposed district lines for the state Senate and Assembly today.

You can look at them here.

No sweeping changes in the Tri-Lakes region, although the town of St. Armand would join Essex County in Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward's 114th District.

St. Armand town Supervisor Joyce Morency said she would welcome this change, and had spoken at length with Sayward and Assemblywoman Janet Duprey about re-joining Essex County.

Speaking of Duprey, I just got off the phone with her. She's also pleased with the proposed lines, although she wondered why Piercefield wasn't added to her district even though four neighboring St. Lawrence County towns were.

Still waiting to hear from Sayward and state Sen. Betty Little. Public hearings on the proposed lines start Monday.
