WSLP chimes in on SOPA

January 18, 2012 - Chris Morris
Everyone is talking about the Stop Online Piracy Act (and, by extension, the Protect IP Act) today, including one of your local radio stations.

This from WSLP, which is based in Lake Placid (this comment was posted on Twitter and Facebook):

"Rarely does WSLP take an official position on items in politics however we feel this legislation warrants opinion. We feel these pieces of legislation will cause the ability to share information with you via WSLPFM.com, this page as well as On-Air difficult, and against both ours and your first amendment rights of Free Speech. We hold artist and intellectual property in the highest regards but there is a better way...We urge you to read up on these pieces and make an educated judgment for yourself.."

The radio station's management also encouraged fans to sign a petition to block the legislation.
