| | ACR in the news (nationally!)January 16, 2012 - Jessica CollierThe Associated Press picked up the story about the APA making a decision on the ACR this week, and it's been at least on a lot of different news websites nationally. It ran on websites for the Wall Street Journal, the New Jersey Herald, the Seattle Post Intelligencer and Also, did you see the headline on WCAX's story? I'm probably way off base, but I'd like to think they got the idea for that from the title of this blog. :) I'm pasting the text of the AP story that came in over the wire below, but I guess there was also an extended version you can see at the Albany Times Union website. The AP story: Agency to vote on proposed Adirondack resort MICHAEL VIRTANEN Associated Press ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The Adirondack Park Agency plans to vote this week on whether to approve a proposed 6,200-acre, year-round resort and residential development in Tupper Lake. The agency, a sort of zoning board for the park, will consider the Adirondack Club and Resort project at its monthly meeting scheduled to start Wednesday. A vote is set for Friday. The project is the largest ever reviewed by the APA. It would rebuild the Big Tupper ski area, build a new marina on Big Tupper Lake, and develop a 6,200-acre parcel. Local officials who see a boost for the area's economy support the project. But residents and environmentalists expressed concerns in the six-year application process about erosion control, wastewater treatment and potential damage the forest and wildlife. Their concerns prompted modifications to the plan. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
