Today's testimony dealing with wetlands
May 3, 2011 - Jessica Collier
After having the weekend and Monday off, we're back in session today. They've moved on to Issue 8, which deals with the impacts on wetlands at Cranberry Pond, the marina and near the base lodge.
So far, the LA Group's Kevin Franke testified this morning. I'll have a story about his testimony, but mainly he was questioned about the extent of study the LA Group did before determining that there wouldn't be any undue adverse impacts.
Update: Here's the text of Issue 8: "ISSUE NO. 8 - ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO MINIMIZE INTERFERENCE WITH WETLAND VALUES AND FUNCTIONS INCLUDING GROUND WATER INFILTRATION, WILDLIFE HABITAT, STORMWATER CONTROL AND OTHER VALUES, AND THE NEED FOR MITIGATION IN THE AREAS OF CRANBERRY POND WETLAND COMPLEX, THE MARINA AND THE BASE LODGE WITH RESPECT TO ISSUE NO. 8 THE SCOPE OF WETLAND VALUES THAT WILL BE CONSIDERED IS INTENDED TO BE BROAD. THE SCOPE OF ISSUE NO. 8 INCLUDES MAINTAINING WATER QUALITY STANDARDS (SNOWMAKING), AND A CONSIDERATION OF READ ROAD AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO CONSTRUCTION TI-IE ON-SITE WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY ON CRANBERRY POND."
