March 16, 2011 - Jessica Collier
head of Adirondack Council

Thanks to ARISE

The Adirondack Council is a bit different from other environmentalist groups. Gives number of the people from here who support their group. (I'll go back and get that for my story.)

I live in Westport. We're based in Elizabethtown.

We think the ACR project can serve as an economic fulcrum for TL and the surrounding area.

The Adirondack Council supports the effort to build a tourism-based economy.

The council will present testimony in adjudicatory on project phasing and alternatives, and the use of resource management lands. Council will defer to town, village, DEC and the APA for most of the other issues it is concerned about.

We want to provide a sound technical and scientific basis on which a sound ACR project can be approved.

It's easy to point fingers at other people, particularly the green organizations, but I think we really need to take a look at all of the agency's permits and bring those under one permitting process so developers don't have to deal with this kind of thing in the future. "There's gotta be a better way. We've gotta figure that out and take it to Gov. Cuomo."

ACR is very important to this community. It's quite obvious.
