To the editor:

As a taxpayer in the town of Harrietstown as well as Franklin County, I find Ms. Ellis’ abstaining from voting on the issue facing North Country Community College unacceptable and deplorable. She stated, “I don’t know enough about this.” Well, Ms. Ellis, it is now your job to investigate and research these issues prior to showing up at a county legislative meeting. I know the agenda is printed in advance of the meeting, so your statement does not sit well with me as a taxpayer because you were ill prepared to do your job. Any person living in this end of the county is well aware of the dilemma that has transpired and has faced North Country Community College since last year. This should have been a priority for you after being “APPOINTED” to represent District 7.

Ms. Ellen Beberman, Ms. Jordanna Mallach, Ms. Tracey Schrader, Ms. Autumn LeFebvre and Ms. Rice all assured us that you were a capable and accomplished woman able to handle the job. It does not appear that your “appointed” career has gotten off to a very good start. Maybe this is why the supervisors of Harrietstown and Franklin felt they should have had input into the appointment process.
