Help clean up Lake Placid

To the editor:

Dear Lake Placid friends and residents:

While we wait for the weather to catch up to the calendar, our thoughts turn toward the outdoors and Spring Clean Up Day! Please mark your calendars for the 56th annual Lake Placid Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 12. We hope the weather will be cooperative, but just in case, the rain date is set for May 19. We’ll make an announcement on WSLP radio and on the Lake Placid Village Clean-Up Facebook page the day before if we need to reschedule in case of bad weather.

Registration will take place on the waterfront side of the Mirror Lake Beach House on Parkside Drive at 9 a.m. However, pre-registration is strongly encouraged before Monday, May 7 if you wish to sign up for a particular street or region of the village. It would be wonderful to see continued families, school groups and business team participation, so if you’ve got a motivated group, please reach out as soon as possible to coordinate areas via email at lpvillagecleanup@gmail.com. There will once again be a scavenger hunt, and three lucky winners will receive prizes for finding the golden eggs hidden about town.

This is a perfect way to give back and show your appreciation and dedication to keeping the Lake Placid community looking its best. We look forward to your participation and support. To those of you who work year ’round picking up trash on our streets, we say “Bravo” and offer many, many thanks!

Think warm, sunny thoughts for May 12, and sign up today!

With best wishes,

Andrea Grout and Tricia Garrett
