Reasons to re-elect Rabideau

To the editor:

When I first purchased property here in the village six years ago, Clyde Rabideau was one of the first persons I called, having been referred to him by more than one local as being a reputable contractor. He and his men, in fact, did a fine job on the renovation of my property. Since then he and I have become close friends, and within that friendship we have spent countless hours discussing the state of our village. The 6er program, his insistence on reviving the village summer concert series, the incredible economic potential and necessary revitalization of our downtown, and many other topics have been explored, some having come to fruition, some latent, and others gone by the wayside.

What I have been impressed with in Clyde the most is his unceasing wellspring of ideas, always intended to help our village prosper. He understands that economics, communication and volunteerism are the engines that maintain a healthy community, and he has consistently pursued idea after idea to enhance these pillars. He was met often with overwhelming support, sometimes with healthy skepticism or downright disagreement, and other times he was met, unfortunately, with personal criticism. “All part of the job,” Clyde would say.

His mayor’s Facebook page has offered an open line of communication between the village and the mayor’s office, and he has always been willing to explain his positions while both accepting and appreciating support of his ideas, and on the other hand wisely considering the arguments of dissent. Clyde is passionate about his ideas, yes, but I’ve been witness to him changing his positions when he is convinced of a sound counter-argument.

Saranac Lake is currently moving in such a positive direction, and much of this is directly due to Clyde’s leadership. I urge you to show him your support by voting for Clyde Rabideau on March 20.
