Electronically monitoring home visits will soon be required
To the editor:
Last week a citizen wrote expressing concern about new technology used to verify services provided home care patients in the North Country.
Health care industry practices have moved from a paper trail to electronic verification of home visits of health care aides. Our new electronic reporting system is provided by an award-winning, leading health care technology company and gives greater assurance of confidentiality while allowing the aides to spend more time doing hands-on services called for in the care plan.
Electronic visit verification is mandated by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) for Personal Care Services effective Jan. 1, 2019. North Country Home Services is now compliant with this soon-to-be mandate. This is a good thing.
