‘Change’ to what?

To the editor:

I applaud the Harrietstown town board, supervisor and superintendent of highways. We are indeed fortunate to have such receptive, dedicated and experienced people as our public servants.

Some of these knowledgeable representatives are being challenged on Election Day under the trite mantra of “change.” It was pure numbers, rather than credentials, that allowed unseasoned candidates to score a coup at the Democratic Party Caucus. They are now running as Democratic/Common Sense candidates.

Actually, it was the Democratic Party, in the late ’70s, that professed, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Our town government is not broken. One need only call or approach any of our incumbent candidates to prove this statement.

Please join me in supporting Mr. Goetz, Mr. Keough and Mr. Donaldson on Nov. 7 — it’s just “common sense.”

Respectfully,

Bob Callaghan
