Meant ‘intent’

To the editor:

I would like to correct a statement attributed to me at the recent public hearing. It was addressed to the Saranac Lake village board regarding the Lake Flower Resort. What I said was, “Land under water cannot be built upon. Including it clearly does not comply with the intention of PUDD law. Whether you get away with this slippery trick or not, you are doing a disservice to a community that expects better, in fact expects you to uphold the intent of the law.”

The vote was taken, four to zero in favor of including submerged land as part of the required size acreage for the resort. Amazing.

(Editor’s note: Upon review of a recording of Ms. Tissot’s comments at the hearing, she said what Wednesday’s article quoted her on as well as what she adds in this letter. The only correction due is that she said the village’s actions violated the intent of the PUDD law rather than the PUDD law itself, as the article paraphrased her statement. The Enterprise regrets the error.)
