Good points against Lake Flower Resort
To the editor:
Bravo to Messrs. Sonneberg, Wilson, Stiles and Brown. While you approach it from differing perspectives, your writings all have a common theme.
Take it from this washed-up environmental lawyer, a 20-year counsel to and executive director of the Adirondack Park Agency: A variance cannot legally be granted solely because the developer wants it in order to do his project the way he wants to.
No matter the cerebral miasma created by APA’s variance regulations, that’s simply not the “practical difficulty” the law requires.
I’m heartened, not by anything I expect APA to do right but by these eloquent citizens speaking out. It’s gotta make a difference.
